All Hail Angry Al Yankovic, Teaser's Revenge Champ 2008

____________________________________________

Well, the season has come and gone. Superbowl over. Teaser's has had it's revenge.

And in the end, only one prevailed.

Angry Al Yankovic played well all season - not great, but never bad. And since he came out on top, OT deserves a trip down memory lane on how he got to the top...

Draft day worked out well for October - I think this was his best work of the year. Even though his top pick was Tom Brady, look at the list of players he got in the next 4 rounds....

Steve Smith, Greg Jennings, Brandon Jacobs, DeAngelo Williams.

Combined with Chad Pennington's too good to believe season, the Steeler's D, Derrick Ward, and Zach Miller, he was stacked with way too many players within the top 10 of their position.

Pickups: October didn't make many roster moves. The best addition was right after Brady went down - Matt Cassel was a stud. He started off slow...I mean it was his first start since high school. But by the middle of the season Cassel learned how to connect with Moss, Welker, and Faulk - all three of which shook off early season lows. It also seems that OT had trouble finding a true TE. Greg Olson, Billy Miller, Zach Miller, Jeremy Shockey were all subbed in and out all season - good thing they all were serviceable TEs.

Low point: Week 9. After losing two straight to Klenk and Dufresne, Yankovic fell to 5-4 and was in danger of falling out of the playoff race. The all of a sudden, out of nowhere, came DeAngelo Williams. 6 out of the next 7 weeks he scored over 20 points, three times topping 30 points. With that OT never lost another game.

Trade: The league's only trade this year - Cassel and Derrick Ward for Roethlisberger and Amhad Green. I think this one was as lopsided as it seemed. Green was a one week wonder and was completely passed over for Steve Slaton. Big Ben couldn't seem to keep his head on straight - even though he played okay, he only had one week over 20 points. Cassel on the other hand, had only 1 week under 20 points.

Playoffs: I don't know how October even made it into the finals. He was starting Tatum Bell, Darren Sproles, and Jeremy Shockey - a total of 15.1 points. Oh, and Dave's cash cow Reggie Bush gets hurt. Again. In game. It was over at that point - and when I say that point, I mean 0.7 point. 103.2 to 102.5.

Championship: It wasn't even close. Dagan could have done nothing more - I mean, who would have started McGahee and the Russian Roulette Raven's Running Backs (say that 5 times fast!)? OT's bench even played well - 11 of his 18 roster spots hit over 10 points this week. DeAngelo broke it big time with 35 points. Jacobs had 27. Even Gotskowski got into the act with 17! From his kicker!

So that did it. Dave started strong but injuries hurt him in the long run. Dufresne was killed by inconsistant play from his stars. Moose was derailed by a horrible draft. Last year's champ, AC, lost his last three games.

All in all a great season. Congrats for the big win, hold your head high. You join the ranks of Barb and AC as Teaser's Revenge Champions.
