Week 10 - Playoff PUSH!

Since the games started on Thursday, I would obviously get 100% of the picks correct this week given the extra help. Too easy, says Moose. Too easy.

So, instead, I’ll give you a view of the playoff race. With only 4 weeks left until the end of the season, can YOU still make it in? Probably not, but let’s check just the same…

At 7-2 we have the cream of the crop: AC, Moose, JLU. On week 14, Moose and JLU match up, leaving the easy road to #1 for AC – but the Moose/JLU winner has a chance. Tracy stands alone at 6-3 and has a couple of 5-4 teams to make it through. Even going 2-2 though this stretch leaves him at 8-5, which is historically playoff worthy in the league. I’m pretty sure all these teams could go 0-4 and still make the playoffs.

A slew of 5-4 teams are hanging around and it seems as if going 3-1 will get you in, and 2-2 will give you a shot. But that’s only if one of our 3-6 teams pull off an undefeated run into the playoffs. Hindsight has the hardest road (vs Moose and Tracy) although John Thomas / Sling will have their work cut out for them for that magic 3-1 record.

Who can emerge out of the cellar to take the last playoff spot or compete with the 5-4 teams? Even though mathematically still in it, Dufresne has put a historically bad season together and won’t even sniff the playoffs. Hoodie, with a 4-5 record seems to be in control, but his schedule is tough – featuring 3 teams with winning records. Of the 3-6 crowd, some of the strength of schedule numbers stand out. Klenk (15-21), Dave (17-19) finish off the season against the weakest teams, while Cap (19-17), SamU (20-16), and Steph (22-14) play against the winners. I see Dave and Cap putting up the biggest playoff push – but none of these teams look promising.

That is, until next week, when everything changes.

Sigh…
